Nestled on a crescent-shaped white sand beach, sandwiched between the sparkling blue Caribbean Sea and lush green gardens, BodyHoliday has a full schedule of daily activities that allows you to be as active or relaxed as you want to be. I’ll share five reasons to love BodyHoliday in addition to the fact that it is ideal for all types of travelers: from solo travelers, groups of friends, and couples — it is very easy to mix with other guests or simply chill on your own.
I’m just back from this adults-only award-winning wellness resort in the beautiful Caribbean. I enjoyed the activities and the most amazing amenity of all – the complimentary DAILY spa treatment with gratuity included!
Here are five great reasons to love this gorgeous St. Lucia piece of heaven!
1. Fitness and Sports
There is a practically endless list of fitness activities on offer. Each guest is provided a schedule both on paper (in a little booklet) and electronically (on a tablet) in each guest room. I started my day with a different activity based on my whim.
The high intensity beach boot camp was very challenging and showed me just how “not fit” I am. The fitness trail walk included hiking a very steep hill, walking a swinging rope bridge, climbing a cargo net over a 20 foot high obstacle, a tunnel crawl, and crossing the monkey bars (Let’s just say that I’m not a good candidate for American Ninja.). I also enjoyed low intensity options like yoga and and stretch classes. One of my very favorites was the pre-lunch aqua fit class with Sherquil. Set to hip-hop music, he put us through a high-energy session that was entertaining and challenging. I used to scoff at aqua classes. This workout completely changed my view about how to work out in a pool! (You can learn more about me here.)
Throughout the day, guests made their way to scheduled classes in yoga, stretch, spin, dance fit, and power combat, or to just workout in the well-appointed fitness center.
Some guests preferred sports rather than “workouts” and took advantage of activities and lessons in swimming, tennis, golf, archery, beach volleyball, water volleyball, waterski, sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboard, table tennis, and SCUBA.
Healthy, delicious and indulgent choices are abundant in BodyHoliday’s dining options. My requests for variations on the menu were graciously honored, and I was impressed that the chef accommodated another guest’s vegan diet with beautifully crafted dishes.
Dining options include Cariblue (buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner), Windows (chef’s table dinner with pairing menus), Tao (Asian fusion fine dining), Pavilion Grill (lunch and dinner), Wellness Cafe (poolside salads, wraps, and smoothies), and ITAL – based on the Rastafari vegan diet tucked beside the organic garden (extra charge). Fun options are the daily Afternoon Tea with a selection of snacks and the Wine Salon for a selection of fine wines (extra charge).
3. Spa and Wellness
Located in a gorgeous building reminiscent of the Alhambra in Spain, the Wellness Center contains the treatment rooms, fitness center, yoga/dance studio, thalassotherapy, Ayurvedic Temple, Skin Clinic, and BodyScience Clinic.
BodyScience is based on Eastern practices and Western knowledge. Using non-invasive diagnostic tests, doctors assess hormone, heart health, and stress levels to design a personalized wellness and nutrition program. Areas of focus include healthy ageing, digestive health, weight loss, fitness, detox and de-stress.
One of the most delightful amenities of this resort is the daily complimentary spa treatment (except for arrival and departure days) with choices that include full body massages, body wraps, facials, and thalassotherapy. My favorites were the full body massage and Lucian lime and ginger scrub.
4. BodyHoliday Staff and Service
Regardless of their role, each member of the team at BodyHoliday went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and that I was enjoying my stay. I really enjoyed getting to know Frances, my amazing room housekeeper; Tasha, my lovely beach concierge, and all the others that are too many to mention. They all remembered my name and treated me as though I were a welcomed family member in their home.
5. Fellow Guests
As a solo traveler, I enjoyed the opportunity to meet interesting guests during my stay. My very first evening, I met a group of three couples from England and a solo traveler from Ohio. We enjoyed a cocktail in the piano bar, dinner at Tao, and dancing at the Clubhouse to round out the evening. Throughout my stay, I met solo travelers, couples and groups of friends through my various activities, at the communal dining table, or by simply greeting people with a simple hello as I encountered them.
Travel to St. Lucia
Travel to St. Lucia requires a negative Covid RT-PCR test taken within 7 days of arrival and pre-registration. Upon arrival at the airport, my temperature was taken and paperwork reviewed.
Temperatures were taken daily at the resort and also each time I entered the spa area. Masks were required while walking about the resort and in public areas, except for when eating, drinking, exercising and enjoying the beach and pools.
Virtuoso amenities include upgrade, $100 resort credit, complimentary 50 minute treatment on departure day or arrival + 30 minutes BodyScience Consultation, and early check-in/late check-out.
